Join Us For Forest Fridays

… every Friday 3 – 5 pm throughout the summer starting July 8 – Sept. 2.

This is your opportunity to better acquaint yourself with forest lands at home on Cortes! Naturalists, children, artists & biologists, all manner of forest aficionados, will accompany you on walks through some of our finest forest lands. Here are the next slate, with subsequent week locations & leader/s again to be announced on Tidelines and posted at the Friday markets. Questions? Need directions? Call Sabina – 6467.

August 19: James Creek Wetlands w/ Mark Lombard/ Sitka spruce and sedge dominate this sensitive ecosystem where we will be on the lookout for red-legged frogs; meet at Cortes Pit sign on Whaletown Road

August 26: Carrington Bluffs w/ Christine Robinson/ walk the beautiful bluffs to the east of Peter Police’s old homestead for great views over Carrington lagoon and bay; meet at Cortes Pit sign on Whaletown Road

September 2: Whaletown Commons w/ TBA / a first hand introduction to the Whaletown Commons and the campaign to secure this area as regional district park; meet at trailhead on Whaletown Road
